Name of the Course: "Advances in design and lifetime management of buildings and civil infrastructures"
Project CARIPLO 75: "Università di Pavia: sviluppo di uno standard formativo di livello internazionale per tutti i corsi di dottorato"
Location of the Course: Numerical Laboratory c/o DICAr, University of Pavia, via Ferrata 3, 27100 Pavia, Italy
Organizers: Prof. Lucia Faravelli, DICAr, University of Pavia
Prof. Fabio Casciati, DICAr, University of Pavia
International Speakers: Prof. Christoph Adam, TU Innsbruck, Austria
Prof. Sami F. Masri, University of Southern California, USA
Prof. Christis Chrysostomou, Cyprus University of Technology, Cyprus
Prof. Aleksandr E. Volkov, Saint-Petersburg State University, Russia
Prof. Vicenç Torra, Universitat Politécnica de la Catalunya, Spain
Speakers: Prof. Lucia Faravelli, University of Pavia
Prof. Marco Morandotti, University of Pavia
Schedule: June 7th-8th 2012 (Prof. C. Adam)
June 15th-16th 2012 (Prof. C. Chrysostomou - Prof. S.F. Masri)
June 21st 2012 (Prof. A.E. Volkov)
June 25th-26th 2012 (Prof. L. Faravelli - Prof. M. Morandotti - Prof. V. Torra)
Objectives and Features: Architecture and Infrastructure Engineering are matching the need of a design which accounts for the lifetime management of the system to be built.
Within this framework, the monitoring of some parameters of the system response has a dominant role, but the monitoring devices must be built.
The design of the structural and architectural system must be modified of consequence.
Furthermore, special care must be devoted to the introduction of “fuse components”, i.e., weak elements which can be easily replaced to restore the initial working conditions after the monitoring devices have detected an ill behavior.
